The basics
Layers
Layers is everything on the page as a list, in the order it sits: boxes with what's inside them tucked underneath. It's the quickest way to pick something small, or something hidden behind something else.
Finding it
Layers is the first tab on the left of the canvas, beside the Library. Click a layer to select it on the page; the page scrolls to show it.
What you can do there
- Open and close
- The arrow beside a box shows or hides what's inside it. The two buttons at the top open or close every box at once.
- Rename
- Double-click a layer's name, or select it and press F2. Good names make the rest of the canvas easier: Read data from and Show it list things by name.
- Reorder
- Drag a layer up or down. Drop it on a box to put it inside.
- Hide
- The eye hides a layer from shoppers. It stays faint on the canvas so you can find it again.
Getting around the page
- Click something on the page to select it. Double-click a box to go inside it and pick what's in it.
- The bar under the page shows where you are, box by box. Click any name in it to go back up to that box.
- Press Esc to step up one box at a time, until the page itself is selected.
